ingredients to use and not to use on your car

The products that you use to wash and wax your car will have a significant impact on how long the paint on your car looks nice. If you use products containing certain ingredients, the clear-coat can fail and leave your car looking terrible. So, what ingredients should you find by reading the labels on each product? What should you be looking for to protect the finish of your car and what should you avoid using at all times? These and many other questions about the care of your car's paint can be found right here on my auto body blog.

3 Ways To Take Care Of Your Car

Viivi Kumpula

When you own a car, and you want it to look as nice as possible, you need to know how to be proactive about protection your vehicle from auto damage. Auto damage doesn't just happen when you get into a collision with another vehicle. Auto damage can happen during a hail storm when sticks fall to the ground, and from parking lot dings and scraps. That is why you need to know how to take care of your vehicle.

1. Get Some Covered Parking

The first thing that you need to do is find some covered parking for your vehicle. If don't have a garage, you are going to want to invest in at least a carport. With a carport, your vehicle will still be somewhat exposed to the elements. However, it will be a lot more protected than it would be sitting in your driveway without any cover at all. With covered parking, you can protect your vehicle from hail storms, as well as from things falling down, like branches. It's not possible to cover your car at all times; however, the more time that your vehicle spends under covered parking, the better.

2. Trim Your Trees

Second, you are going to want to make sure that there are not any branches that could fall down and hit your vehicle. If you have trees in your yard, make sure that you prune your trees each year. When you prune your trees, focus first on removing dead and damaged branches. Then, you can prune the branches so that you thin the branches so that they are not so thick and close to each other. This reduces the likelihood of a branch falling off a tree and hitting your vehicle.

3. Be Careful in The Parking Lot

Third, you need to make sure that you are careful when you are in busy parking lots. One way to protect your vehicle from dings in the parking lot is by parking further away from the store and further away from where all the other vehicles are parked. The less vehicle traffic that your car is near, the better chance it has of not being damaged.

When you are driving in parking lots, slow down. Look both ways down the aisle before you start driving and continue to look out for taillights as you drive down the aisle in the parking lot. Don't be so aggressive to get that particular spot in the parking lot. Slowing down and being more aware of what you are doing in the parking lot will help keep your vehicle safe.

If you want to prevent little scratches and dings to your vehicle, you are going to want to keep your vehicle under covered parking as much as you can. Then, you are going to want to trim your trees so that damaged branches do not fall on your car. Finally, make sure that you are careful when you are in parking lots. Go slower and be more aware of the other vehicles around you.
