ingredients to use and not to use on your car

The products that you use to wash and wax your car will have a significant impact on how long the paint on your car looks nice. If you use products containing certain ingredients, the clear-coat can fail and leave your car looking terrible. So, what ingredients should you find by reading the labels on each product? What should you be looking for to protect the finish of your car and what should you avoid using at all times? These and many other questions about the care of your car's paint can be found right here on my auto body blog.

Has Your Car Recently Sustained Hail Damage? What To Do Now

Viivi Kumpula

If you have recently had a storm in your area that involved hail, you might also now have a car with significant hail damage. However, like most people, you likely have not had to deal with hail damage to your vehicle in the past. Before you do anything about the damage done to your car, get to know some of the various steps you should take to handle the situation. Then, you can be sure that you are doing what is best for your finances as well as for your vehicle.

Take Photos of the Damage

First and foremost, as soon as you notice that there is damage to your vehicle after a storm, you should take pictures of it. Do this before you move or drive the vehicle and take several shots from different angles to show the extent of the damage. It will help you to have documentation of the damage to your vehicle immediately after the storm. That way, your insurance company will not be able to attribute the damage to a subsequent storm or issue with your vehicle.

Contact Your Insurance Company

You should not wait to contact your insurance company after you sustain hail damage from a storm. Waiting can lead the insurance company to question whether the damage was caused at the time you say or by a storm at all. Again, before you get in your car to go to work or drive anywhere else, put in a call to your insurance company to start the claim. Tell them what happened and describe the damage. You can also get an email address from your insurance agent to send them the pictures that you already took.

Be Sure You Meet with the Insurance Adjuster

Once your initial claim is filed, your insurance company will schedule a time for an insurance adjuster to come out and look at your vehicle to assess the damage. You should be sure that you take the time to be there for this inspection. You can talk to the adjuster and ask any questions or even point out certain areas of the car where you noticed the most damage. The adjuster will also likely have questions to ask you that can be more easily answered in person rather than in follow-up phone calls.

Get Several Quotes for Repairs

Many auto body shops offer hail damage repair services. However, not all of these auto body shops will offer the same prices for these services. You do not want to accidentally get saddled with needlessly high-cost repairs. As such, you should get multiple price quotes from various body shops. Then, you can compare prices along with the shops' reputations and choose the option that best suits your budget and your repair needs. Contact a company like Superior Dent Solutions to learn more.

Now that you know the steps to take when your car has sustained hail damage, you can get the repair process started right away.
