ingredients to use and not to use on your car

The products that you use to wash and wax your car will have a significant impact on how long the paint on your car looks nice. If you use products containing certain ingredients, the clear-coat can fail and leave your car looking terrible. So, what ingredients should you find by reading the labels on each product? What should you be looking for to protect the finish of your car and what should you avoid using at all times? These and many other questions about the care of your car's paint can be found right here on my auto body blog.

What To Expect After An Accident With Your Car

Viivi Kumpula

If you have been involved in an accident with your car, the aftermath can be challenging to navigate. Filing the insurance claim, choosing auto body collision repair services to work with, and getting through the repair process can be overwhelming, especially if you have never been through it before.

Getting The Ball Rolling

After an accident, your car will most likely need to be taken to an auto collision repair service center where a technician can inspect the vehicle, determine what needs to be repaired, and write up a formal estimate for the work. The tech will go over the entire car to ensure that any damage from the accident is identified and added to the repair estimate.

Once the estimate is completed, the auto collision repair service can send a copy directly to the insurance company for you and work with them to explain the issues that they have found. The insurance company and the collision center may have worked together before, but even if they have not, the collision center more than likely has experience dealing with insurance companies to resolve billing and collision coverage.

Repairing Your Car

Once the estimate has been completed, and the insurance company has approved the repairs, the auto collision repair service can start its work. In many situations, the repairs will take a lot of time unless the damage is minor, so it is a good idea to ask the auto collision repair service how long they estimate the work to take.

If they finish early, they will let you know, but having some idea of the duration of the work can help if you are trying to get a rental car to use while your car is in the shop. If your insurance covers rental cars, they may need to know how long to book the car for you, but if you don't have the information, you may need to get the collision center to pass the information on to your insurance company.

Picking Up The Car

Once the work is complete, the auto collision repair service will go over the repairs with you. Take the time to look over the car and make sure the repairs are up to par. Checking areas like the gaps around the doors and the alignment of the fenders is an excellent way to ensure that the new parts are correctly installed and are not going to bind or move later.

If you are not happy with the repairs, the time to let the shop and the insurance company know is before the car leaves the shop. Often, if there is a small adjustment to be made, the tech can do it for you, but if you do not point it out, you may have to live with it.
